1 Chronicles 6

The chapter records the ancestry, assigned work, and dwelling places of the families entrusted with service in God’s house.

Levi’s descendants are listed by family, beginning with the priestly line of Aaron and tracing it through Jehozadak’s exile under Nebuchadnezzar. The record then turns to other Levite households and the singers David appointed for worship, including Heman, Asaph, and Ethan. Their ancestry establishes their place among Levi’s descendants. Aaron’s sons receive distinct duties at the altars, while other Levites serve in the sanctuary. The closing section names the towns and pasture lands assigned to these families across Israel.
