Emotional Health & Faith: How Connected Are They for You?

Plenty of churches have taught people to leave their feelings in the parking lot. But Scripture shows us a God who created our emotions, welcomes them, and wants to be part of how we process them. David's raw emotional honesty in the Psalms is a model for all of us.

This assessment evaluates how well-connected your emotional life and your faith life are. Do you bring your real feelings to God, or do you put on a spiritual mask? Can you process grief, anger, anxiety, and joy through the lens of faith?

Emotional and spiritual health are deeply intertwined. Seeing where they connect, and where they don't, changes how you pray.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it okay to be angry with God?

Yes. Many psalms express anger, confusion, and frustration directed at God (Psalm 13, 22, 44, 88). God is big enough to handle your honest emotions. Bringing difficult feelings to God is actually a sign of deep trust and faith maturity.

How do emotions connect to spiritual health?

Our emotions often reveal what we truly believe. Anxiety can reveal where we're not trusting God. Joy can confirm alignment with His will. Processing emotions through faith helps us understand ourselves and God more deeply.

What if I struggle to feel anything in my spiritual life?

Spiritual numbness is common and doesn't mean something is wrong with you. It can result from burnout, unprocessed pain, or simply a dry season. Start by naming that numbness honestly to God; that itself is a prayer.
